I have to agree about MDF not my favourite material, all that dust but as you say can be very versatile I built a motorbike out of the stuff a while ago.

The build is coming along just nicely it is all these bits that you are making now that can take the longest
    Derek,

I hope you a feeling a lot better. Concur that Trevor's build is coming along beautifully.

Like Keith I hope your feeling better mate

With the MDF as much as I dislike the stuff with some PVC and Bodyfiller, I don't think there's to many shapes or forms you can't reproduce!
Your right about the parts for the Indian at the moment.
After I finish the rear mudguard and speedo I've got the footplates and levers to make.
The pattern on the footplates will be a bit of a challenge!
I'll need to make a mould for it.

    c140.jpg

That should keep me out of trouble for awhile.

Thanks mate keep on the mend!

Thanks guys nothing to serious just chest pains.

Anyway back to the foot plates the brackets which attach them to the bike look a bit like those clip on metal shelf brackets the ones you can just move up and down

    Hey Dalboy,
Great idea I'll have a look at Aroundagain (The recyclers) this morning.
I was thinking of maybe cutting the U shaped runner section from a filling cabinet draw down.
    I reckon both could work.
I'll see what I can find.
I've finished shaping the mudguard I'll give it a coat of primer and post a photo later.

    Thanks mate

I've just finished modifying the hub of a rear wheel to a through axle.
I took the cones out and replaced the centre with a piece of copper pipe.
Joe's beavering away changing the front hub from being 36 spokes to 40.

Everything is still a little up in the air!
It's all about playing with scale and making thing's that don't match look like they go together.
But I can see that it will work in the end.

    The most oversized tyres I can get are 61mm / 2.4” - 528mm / 20.7”
The tread pattern on them doesn't look to bad for the period.

    tyre.jpg

It's wider than the tyre I have on the back wheel at the moment.
I may have to cut the mudguards down a little in the end to get the best match.
But until it's all together I really don't know!

It rained pretty much all day here yesterday so I couldn't get a photo of the rear mudguard in place.
Hopefully today will be better and I'll post one this afternoon.

    Cheer mate

I got a couple of shot's of the bike with standard bicycle wheel's on it this morning.
They will be improved on but for the moment they give a pretty good indication of
    where it's heading.

    IMG_2154.jpg IMG_2160.jpg

With the brakes and drive train on them and maybe the mudguards narrowed a little,
along with the addition of wider tyre's and a better tread pattern I think it should all
    work quite well.

But for the moment I'll leave them as is and get on with the speedo and footplates.

    Cheers
    Trev.

I should have the Indian finished before but the Australia Day weekend at your place will be it's first road trip when completed.
I try to build one thing a year as you know but the Indian aka (Slugger) will take me well past that.
It's just got way more detail to contend with than anything I've made before.
But it's also the most enjoyable and personally satisfying build I've undertaken.

So make sure your boots are shiny and your hats on straight for another shot of Cowboy and Indian.
And don't forget to have lots of coffee and pancakes on the go

    Cheers mate

Not just for you as I know that for one I have enjoyed your build tremendously

I would think that Dave should at least be in period costume for the bike picture

Thanks for that mate I'm really glad your enjoying it as well!
And I think your spot on with the costume.
That's not to say that Cowboy doesn't dress like one every day as it is.
But I think for the photo the addition of a pair of shiny silver 70's Lone Star cap guns is in order

That's looking bloody fantastic, Trevor, even with those wheels. This has been a most enjoyable journey.

I'm dying to see it when it's all finished.

My brother asked me to keep him updated with pics. I've shown him a fair few so far, but will leave him holding his breath for now and show him the finished pics next, now that you're this close.

Keep up the great work, mate.

I'm still too wrapped up in my new woodturning hobby to do any more scale modelling just yet, but maybe soon..... (Nothing of this calibre though.)
