I see what you mean about bad jokes Crowie.

I'll have to file that one away mate it's a pearler

Hey thanks for the heads up on the Indian Museum.
    I hadn't heard about it.
I'll have a good look at it tonight.

    Thanks mate.

More work done on the brake lever today.
I've made the base plate and half of the clamp.

    IMG_2286.jpg IMG_2287.jpg

To make the plate I used pretty much the same materials as for the lever.
Except for a piece of dowel which forms the cable guide and some MDF.

    IMG_2288.jpg IMG_2289.jpg

Like most things a coat of primer helps to define the shape.
I still need to drill out the lever for the cable end.
As well as the holes for the screws to hold the clamp together.
I'll make the bottom of the clamp tomorrow.

    IMG_2290.jpg IMG_2293.jpg

It's a fiddley little thing to make but great fun.

    Cheers
    Trev.

I've finished off making the brake lever.
It seems to have come out fairly well.

    IMG_2302.jpg IMG_2295.jpg

Painted chrome and with some cable running through it should look the part.

    IMG_2303.jpg IMG_2305.jpg

I'll get back to the brackets for the footplates now.
After that it's really only the wheels to be sorted and then I can strip it down.
Once the weather warms up I can get stuck right into the painting.

    Cheers
    Trev.

That is an amazing piece of sculpting. You manage to get everything so smooth when using the body filler, or anything else. Is the finishing done by machines, or is it all done by hand?

As I said before, its just as well I can type because I am totally speechless and in awe of your skills and imagination.

This has to be on one of those morning breky shows or more even a special inspiration segment on a Better Homes and Gardens or something.

Even the science museum or the car museum in SA
The person who never made a mistake never made anything

    Thanks for that Dallas.
It's fair to say I spent a lot of time around paint and bodyfiller when I was kid.
My Dad was a panelbeater and a damn fine one at that!
I have nothing like the skill of my father, but I did pickup on some things.

Crowie and I are always joking about watching paint dry.
I love watching paint dry, bodyfiller as well.
It's how I get the finish.

With the paint as one coat starts to dry it let's you know when it's time for the next.
As bodyfiller dries you can work it's surface by hand to get a really smooth finish to it.
It takes some practice and a lot of sticky fingers.

All of the finishing on the bike is done by hand.
Although I'm happy to say my Dad say's when it comes to a finished surface I'm a machine!

You can be the King of England or win Tatts.
But nothings as good as a pat on the back from your Dad

    Cheer mate
    Trev.

You have a real handle on things and if anything goes wrong you can just lever things in your favour. Looking good.

    Thanks Cowboy.
I'm pretty happy with that lever.
But it's usually the first thing on the bike to brake.
There's a subtle one for you

    Cheers mate

Don't mind me just messing around trying to workout uploading to the forum from an image hosting site.

Still trying to make things easier for Dad.
Bigger pictures with less buttons for him to push hopefully.
