So I like to get the best base I can on them before they get hit with any colour.

It's a little time consuming but quite therapeutic as specially at 3 in the morning.
The best thing about working at this time is you can pretty much be sure no ones
knocking on the door or ringing!

I'm really looking forward to the Lion build.
It will be a great one

    Cheers mate

    Thanks for the note Trev,

    Your bike is looking great.

I bit the bullet and ordered plans from the UK. I think they are for a live steam build but I will alter then to suit a working with timber / composite build. Am really getting stuck into work around the yard. Might be able to get onto the Lion a lot earlier than anticipated. (When Plans arrive) I will then start a new thread. I think Cathie's pretty happy with house progress. A lot more harder physically than Peny-Darren build.

    Keep up great work.

    I will be in touch

    Regards

    Keith

    Holiday that's even worse Crowie.
At least at home I can do things.
Walking the streets of towns in the wee small hours (usually barefooted) you get to know a lot of police officers!
    But that's about all.

It's not as if I don't sleep I get around 4 hours or so a night.
Usually asleep about 10 and up at 2.

Honestly mate 2 till sunrise best time of the day.
Nice and quiet you can get a lot of work done.
As specially when it's things like painting and sanding.
Even more so if I'm painting scroll working or pin stripping it's the perfect time.
No one to walk around the corner and say HEY!

    Cheers mate

I had a great day yesterday I took a run down to Bendigo and picked up the front wheel from Joe.
He's done a brilliant job of modifying the hub so that I can make the drum brake look right.
I'll post some photo's this afternoon.

Just before going to Bendigo I was working on a decal for the steering throat.
I'm not sure that there was one a my model of the bike.
But it's such a good look I wonted to have it.

On the earlier Indians the decal on the throat listed the patents held by the Company.
I've modified the logo on the top to the later version that I'm using.

I may even change the patent numbers on it to later ones that associate more to the era of my bike.
But there's one I'll defiantly be keeping it's marked with a red line in the picture above.
Patent number 873742 believe it or not it's for a Piano Pedal.
I'm sure that the function of the pedal had application to the Indian Company.
But it looks pretty funny in the list of patents they held.

This is the first page of patent 873742 showing the drawing of the pedal.

Not that anyone will ever check the patents I'll have listed on the steering throat.
But I love it a Piano Pedal for heavens sake "Kool".

    Cheers
    Trev.

Good point, you got me there
But I like to call it research to avoid everyone noticing just how nerdy I can be

Here's what I picked up from Joe yesterday.
His done a great job of modifying the hub to make it a larger diameter.
Also his changed it from being 40 spokes to 36 to match the rims I'm using.

You can see the increase in the diameter with the aluminium rings his riveted in the hub.
All I need do now is to shape the hub out with PVC, MDF and you quest it Bodyfiller.

He'd also come up with a sprocket for the rear wheel.
It needed a spacer which he made on the spot from an old air compressor part.
He seemed to think it was all pretty straight forward.
Maybe so but I was more than impressed.

Saying thanks to Joe seems a little understated, his gone out of his way and done a fine job of it.
But thanks mate you've really helped me out and it's greatly appreciated

Well I'd best get rolling on these wheel!
Sorry had to say it before someone else did.

    Cheers
    Trev.

Not been saying much on your build but I have been sitting back and enjoying it. It can't be long now before the painting starts.

I'm making a stand for all the wise cracking members of the forum who appreciate a good pun!
So far it's about half done!
Once finished it will be much easier to gain access to work on the rear wheel.

    The incorrigible don't require encouragement

    Cheers mate
