Old 99
Today has been a busy day with cutting grass and some gardening followed by sizing some wood.
Anyway, the start of the Train build has begun by marking out the main chassis of the train after finding the first piece of wood had a split in it so found another piece which also had a split but as you can see it is in an area that will be cutaway
.
Tomorrow should see a little more done as I now have piles of wood all dimensioned to different thicknesses for the project

I sat indoors and marked out a pile of wood for all three (see other posts for those) this is the small pile marked out ready to cut.

I also have two draws full of different woods and dowels for the three projects a picture can be seen here of the two draws this little lot are what I have leftover from other builds so have a good supply of different thickness of various woods as well as some very thin strips in the second draw along with different dowel sizes in different woods.
I don't throw much out

This does not look like much but there are three lots marked out today as well as bake the wife a cake and plant out some plants.

Spent yesterday and today cutting out the parts that I had marked out and a small lack of concentration and slipped on the bandsaw no the blade was nowhere near me but I did manage to cut the biggest piece in the wrong place I could have made a repair but I would not be happy with it so machined another piece and managed to get it marked out but not cut.
Cut out and with the part I messed up

The second attempt prepared and marked out

Also, cut the main boiler assembly ready for glueing before I throw it on the lathe, I just can't get away from that machine

Started the first of the glue-ups Chassis to the cab base and also the boiler which will go on the lathe next The block next to the boiler blank will be shaped into the firebox In the plans, there is no detail in the cab but may take a little artistic licence and add some small pieces just to add to it

Just have a look at a couple of Keith 1's builds for an idea of cab details.

Today has been a very slow in the workshop because of Friday shopping9 Which I just hate at the best of times let alone with all this virus. As well as having to plant out some veg and of coarse the watering.
I did, however, manage to get some work done on the loco in a couple of hours I did manage to get in there, like turn the boiler and cut some parts ready for glueing and turning things like the funnel, sand dome and valve dome. Not in the photos I have cut out the firebox as well

Great progress Derek.
Grocery shopping is a necessity for eating so it must be done even if it eats into shed time
cheers Peter
