Animated Toy Making
I have been lurking on this forum awhile and love the toys I see here.
I found a link that I think many of you will find interesting. The show is called The Woodwright's Shop with Roy Underhill from the Public Access TV channel, PBS, in the States. Mr. Underhill does lots of cool woodworking using only human powered techniques and antique tools. In this episode he shows a lot different animated toys from around the world and then goes on to make a few. Another episode you might find interesting is one on making Whirlygigs, wind powered animations.
Here's the link to the one on animated toys.

Enjoy.“When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think...that a time is to come when those (heirlooms) will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, ‘See! This our father did for us.’ “ --John Ruskin. Audels Carpenters and Builders Guide, 1923 Theo Audel & CO. New York.
