Battleship WIP
Hi,
Have started the battleship. Am making the hull out of a solid piece of hoop pine with the deck made out of pine. The battleship will be approximately 1100mm long. Here are the first few photos of the hull taking shape and the deck. I am shaping the hull with a plane. Using a plane can be quite relaxing. More to come.
Thanks for looking.

That's looking good Todd and wow 1100mm long - a battle cruiser....
Mind you, you may need an ark if the floods from up north head you way again.
Keep up the WIP photos & build notes, thank you.

Battleship WIP
Hi,
Some stuff done. The hull beginning to look a bit more like I want it. Still to shape and attach the bow and stern pieces. Stern will be reminiscent of a goblet style stern. Bow will be fairly raked. Have made the superstructure deck, 3 turrets with guns and the funnel. Ship is loosely modelled on the HMS Warspite made in the First World War. Let me know what you think.

Back doing the battleship
Hi,
Back doing stuff on the battleship. I have been away for 2 weeks helping out with the flood recovery effort in the Lockyer Valley. Now time for some shed time I think. After I get some sleep I think. Power tools and tiredness don't mix.
Before I went away I roughly shaped the bow and stern pieces and glued them into place as well as glueing the deck into place. I plan on glueing some thin pieces of timber along the hull underneath the deck and then shape the hull into a the proper shape. I will then shape the bow and stern into the desired shape. Will then start planning the superstructure.
I have attached a couple of photos.
Thanks for looking.

Good that you're back safe & sound on dry land Todd.
Poor buggers, another flood; it's been a bad few months up & down the whole east of the country with first fires & now floods.
Keep up the good work on your ship.

Hull pieces glued on
Hi,
Had today off and spent a little bit of time in the shed. As the deck of the Battleship is wider that the hull I have glued some 42x19 on the bottom of the deck. Once dried I will then shape the hull into a fluid curve. I have decided not to do a pre WW1 tumblehome design - Tumblehome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
but to go for a hull style like the USS Missouri - USS Missouri (BB-63) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Still working out the what to do next.
Thanks for looking.

Hi,
Had a good day in the shed. Have shaped the hull and it looks pretty good. Put putty into the small gaps and sanded the hull. Positioned the gun turrents and currently working on the superstructure. Photos attached.

Painted Battleship
Hi,
Have painted the battleship. Am going to put a railing around the hull and a wire from the bow to the stern over the mast. HAve put some capstans for anchor chain and am making some anchors. Would love to put an Australian Navy White Ensign but they are hard to find in the size I want. Plus it is not technically correct as our only battlecruiser would have sailed under the British White Ensign. Would you believe that our navy was flying under the British Flag until 1967. Any ideas where I could get a flag Crowie?
Photos attached.
Thanks for looking.
