Blizzard style Articulated Lorry finally built
Back in September/October last year there was some general discussion regarding Richard Blizzard's Wooden Toy Manual published by Haynes. I tried to put this post in that original thread but had trouble working out how to do it because it was so old and I could not quite follow the instructions. However !
After reading the reviews of the book I still decided to buy it as I was particularly impressed with the Articulated Lorry. What a task lay ahead for me. With only a series of photos, which lacked a lot of detail as to the processes involved, one isometric drawing and a cutting list to follow I decided to give it a go. Most of the project involved redrawing all of the components into a Cad programme to get some workable measurements then testing and adjusting as I went along. It was very much an on and off WIP.
I have attached a couple of photos of my finished truck

Looks fantastic Mike. Job well done. I agree the Blizzard instructions are lacking on the final placement of where parts go and you are dependant on the pictures.

G'Day Mike,
You have sure made a very nice truck & trailer combination, well done.
I was one of the blokes who bought the book you mentioned and "poowho'd" it; BUT you have certainly made it work.
Top marks.
Cheers, crowie
PS - Maybe if you don't mind me asking, could you share your "revamped" drawings with everyone please??

Mate ... I love it ... simplicity of design .. Its a pleasure to look at.
As for designer's plans not having enough info, thats part of a good plan ... Isn't there an old Taoist saying: Of a good designer they will say, 'We did this ourselves'.
In my opinion plans are just the whispers, the ghosts that stimulate our own creative abilities.
