Default Boys stuff...Sling shots and an Inanga (Eel net)

The slingshots turned out even more low powered than I'd planned, but they like them so that's all that matters I guess. Will look into more stretchy rubber band material when they're a bit older and less likely to hurt themselves. The Inanga was a spare of the moment thing, one of the boys is beginning to get right into fishing(Watches a lot of "Millar Wilson" a young Aussie lad who fishes and catches Aussie critters on youtube). Going to try it out tomorrow in one of the tidal creeks down the road.DSCF4195.jpgDSCF4197.jpgDSCF4196.jpg

    Hi,

Not trying to ruin anyones fun, but i'd seriously suggest changing the way the sling is attached to the sticks and potentially use stronger wood than currently choosen (looks like frangipani offcuts?)

Obviously if they are under powered it may not be an issue but plenty of eye injuries as a result of sling shots (to the shooter).

Anyhow if you're wanting to beef the power up suggest using jelly rubber similar kind of stuff you get from spear guns or exercise resistance bands. Have made a water melon catapault with the stuff in the past and was able to launch a water melon about 30 meters into the air ultimately landing about 80 meters down the park.

Also suggest taping up the Y in the event the sling does give way the tape should absorb a fair amount of the energy.

Made from Hebi off cuts and hard as ****, absolutely are safe as house's as they barely fire more than 5 meters with the speed of a drunken butterfly, children have been well educated on how to use them safely...

When I was young we used to get bicycle tubes and cut of rings across the tube about 10 - 12mm wide and then thread them through each other like a daisy chain. It was cheap and had plenty of power.
I'm sure they will have lots of fun the way it is for now.
