Talked to my organ building buddy about the organ tearout and subsequent free wood. He said this happens more often than you think. Many older churches and auditoriums/theaters have very, very old organs that literally just start to disintegrate, especially the baffles and such which were typically leather. The sound quality also deteriorates as the joints weaken after 50-100 yrs of heavy use. The cost to restore them vs replace them is just far too great, unless they are of some historical significance. Most, if not all of a tearout usually ends up in a big dumpster, which really is a crime. So Crowie did a VERY good thing, by rescuing this wood! It also might be a source for others to explore, if you can find any organ builders or retailers in your area to ask. Bottom line is don't beat up on Crowie...he did a good thing!!
