    Default “C” Cab Delivery Van

    “C” Cab Delivery Van

This little truck was inspired by Doug, aka Hunter71 from Lumberjocks.

I’d seen him make some beautiful delivery vans in a C cab pattern.

Some time ago he’d kindly shared his “C” cab pattern with me which was extremely generous and helpful as it gave me a starting point.

I’ve used Doug’s pattern on a number of trucks but thought it was about time to have a go at a Delivery Van.

Not a heap of extra detail on this first attempt but enough to make an interesting toy for a child’s play.

As you can see the van is about 12” long.

    The timbers are as follows:
    Spotted Gum sides,
Tallow Wood roof & rear doors,
Merbau for the engine & radiator as well as the mudguards [fenders],
Tassie Oak for the running boards as is the chassis,
The finish is my Home-Made Wipe-On-Poly.

Shop bought 2" wheels and ale pegs plus the furniture buttons used for lights.

Button steering wheel and bead gear shift on bamboo skewers.

Not sure if this one’s for the community club fund raising or as a gift.

Another solid build, just the thing to bring a smile to a young lads face.
    I’m guessing you’re a Ford man Crowie!

Thank you Glenn, Yes to Ford in the main,
but any of the beautiful cars from the the 1950's to the Muscle Car era would do in my garage!
All the solid metal classic's that had style and presents....not like the cookie cutter plastic fantastic stuff we get today!
    Cheers, Peter

    Looks good mate,
Plenty of colour in natural timber, No need to paint or stain.
What do you finish them with?

Homemade Wipe-On-Poly mixture given to me by an old master woodturner friend, Ian.
    30% Tung Oil
    30% Mineral Turps
    40% Clear Satin Polyurethane
I only make up a small 200/250ml batch at a time because it does go off.
The Tung Oil helps bring out the timber colour and grain.
The Satin Polyurethane gives a hard finish without looking plastic.
    It’s a top look finish.

Another great build there Crowie. Are the wheels still coming from that big order of parts you did a few years ago or have you topped up since then?

I’ve had to top up the popular size wheels a few time Dallas, though in smaller quantities due to the poor exchange rate plus cost of freight. Cheers Peter
