    Hi guys.

I was stupidly scammed on my computer tonight. Please don't believe if you get a message that your computer is locked up and you need to ring a number. I did. Don't know damage or cost yet. This message is from my mobile. Please don't open any emails from me that starts with kchogan1953. Please. Sorry if anything has happened hopefully not. Will be offline on computer. Will only. Communicate by my mobile. Please don't get sucked in as I have.

    Regards Keith

    Hi Guys,

I would sincerely like to thank everyone who has supported me during this build of the carriage. If you read Trevor's (Repliconics) Brough Thread he said that I wouldn't finish the carriage before I started on another build. Well Trevor knows me very well. He wins the "bet".

Today ends my work on the carriage - even though incomplete - sorry if I have let anyone down but I am really not enjoying this build as much as I thought I would and this has become really evident to me over the last 6 weeks.
I have put in 820 hours (I may come back to it) but in essence I reckon I am an Engineer and not a wall paper, furniture etc maker. and at my age you must do what rocks your boat - I reckon.

Don't get me wrong - this has been a large learning curve for me - glass cutting, small wood turning and I an really happy with the bogie work that I did. I have learnt heaps on my model making / artistic pursuits.
It has also shown me that you don't need to work solely from photos - that your imagination is a great resource. and never chuck away anything - sorry Cathie (The carriage goes into storage after dismantling.

I am really looking forward to the next locomotive - it is a GMR 1890 Stirling locomotive - absolutely beautiful. I hope you will look at the Tread when I put it up.

Below are some final photos of the carriage before I start pulling it apart.

    Again

    Thanks everyone for your support

    Regards

    Keith

    Hi Keith,
That must have been a very hard decision to make and I very much doubt that anyone will feel "let down" by it.
I have really enjoyed watching you work on this project but I must admit that I had sensed that you weren't enjoying it as much as your other recent work and I started to feel this after you had veered away from your strength and forte of striving for, and achieving, absolute scale AND HISTORIC accuracy?
I would feel like I had lost a friend if you dismantled all of that beautiful carriage so may I humbly suggest that you only take it back far enough to one day restart it as the suburban carriage of your childhood memory? I mean, who else do I know has an 'automated slack adjuster' on their display shelf!

    your fellow Halifax grandson, fletty

I was talking to Charlie the other night and he was I telling all about the Stirling.
No joke folks he was like a kid in a candy shop!.

I sort of feel like I'm suppose to say it's a shame that your not finishing the carriage.
But in all honesty I can't because I know you'd much rather be building the Stirling.

I think the work you've done on the carriage is nothing short of outstanding, and you've shown us the range and diversity of your talent.
But I know how much you love your Loco's and you build them like no other!.

Maybe the carriage will reappear behind the Stirling "Who Knows".

Have fun with the new build mate I'm sure it will be nothing short of wonderful!.

    Cheers
    Trev.

Keith, while I will miss reading about this build I look forward to the Stirling thread.
At 3 metres plus this was going to be a big build, and apart from home, displaying it anywhere else would almost need a truck to move - not for weight but size. Perhaps you could make a plain, run of the mill guards van just to have a small train. Don't even worry about the interior, just the exterior and just plain 3 link coupling and buffers will make it fit with steam engines - British and Victorian.

It is a shame considering the time and effort you have put in Keith, I an understand where you are coming from. Could you not have completed the main structure like the walls and the exterior and left the fiddly bits like the furniture which could be made between other bits and pieces while you do the new engine.

I for one will also miss this masterpiece but if it ceases being enjoyable, the end result will suffer, however, I will wager that you will finish it at some stage. Looking forward to the next loco.
