Default CNC router or scrollsaw for jigsaw puzzles

Hi must be obvious I haven't tried either. I live 6000km or so from a Bunnings. I've done a lot of rough carpentry for roofing, but now find myself preferring being under a roof instead of making them. I've got a hefty (all steel) old black and decker router but since I'm aiming to make money out of this, I thought I might go CNC.

Looking to make around 2 A4 size jigsaw puzzles per hour, say 15 pieces per puzzle. I'd do a run of 10 or so of the same puzzle every time. Ambient temp is 35, humidity is 90% so I probably can't use a cheap one. The material will be 1/4 inch acacia (500kg/m^3).

I want to do angled edges and engrave.

Any suggestions for what machinery I'd need to do this? I don't see much about using cnc routers to make jigsaws.

Maybe what I need is a cnc router to do the engraving, then a big scroll saw to cut stacked puzzles.

    Any tips appreciated

G'Day & Welcome "On Top Down Under" "charkwai",
I have made simple puzzles with my scrollsaw.
As with an machine like this it's a matter of time, patiences and lots of practice.
As to the CNC Router, I don't have one but from my limited understanding the computer program & the robotic router with a sharp T/C bit do the work for you.
I'm not sure if that helps.
Sorry you haven't got any "rabbit hutches" in Malaysia, but then you might have something a whole heap better like the range in the USA.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork.
    Cheers, crowie

    Default no rabbit hutches

    Hi Crowie

My biggest local hardware is about 150m3 of floor space, and they only sell scrollsaws made in Taiwan with a 3 month warranty carried by the shop. For the same price I can get a DeWalt DW788 off Amazon

The router I'm looking at is here blackFoot 4x8 v4.1 CNC Machine

    Thanks for the advice!

For doing puzzles the CNC would probably do it.

However, for 3K you could buy all new ballscrews and rails and still come out ahead.
Have you got any building ability? If so why not post in the CNC section of this forum /f170 and i'm sure we would help you through the build.

At least you wouldn't be spending so much money of a machine that runs acme thread

You can use the Joe CNC plans from here The Machines

All you then need it to source the parts and build it
