    MDF?

    WOW! Who'd have thunk it?

Very, very nice. I'm betting it's new owner will love it to pieces.

    Thanks for the comments guys,

The paints I used are the white is water based gloss paint and all the others are artists acrylic paints then the complete thing is finished with 3 coats of Polyvine waterbased varnish which is child friendly.

Diggerdelaney, have we exchanged emails before?

Nice work. How do you find carving MDF?

This is really interesting. I don't know why out of all things you picked MDF. Is it because of the cost? Still if you are going to build something that will last for generations than why not use soild timber. I would be worry about the strength of the legs.

    Very nice end result Diggerdelaney,
Quite amazed that it's MDF under that beautiful horse.
    Well done.

No we have not exchanged e mails before

MDF was chosen as I had so much of it as for strength I did look into this and made the legs thicker without making them look too bulky. I did sit on it and I am quite weighty. If I had any doubts about a child sitting on it it would have ended up in the bin. Normally I will use proper timber as I will be doing for the next rocker

I also made a motorbike rocker about 2 years ago and it has stood up to some good rocking over the 2 years look at the link below.
    Thank you for the concern

On the Their American and Canadian website they state this

"If you can't find the product you need locally, you can order it from the factory in the UK.
Click here to go to our online shop."

So as crowie said contact them and see if they will post to Aus, like most things it is the postage that is a killer when ordering overseas. I am very fortunate that I can walk to my local stockist in less than 10 minutes.

Thanks I guess I need to read the whole thread. I saw the name Digger & assumed you were in Aus. The flag should have been a bit of an indicator

Great job. I enjoyed watching the transformation in the slide show from the blocky form to the refined horse.

It is a well travelled horse ...... In a new location for much of the slideshow!

    Glad you like it

It travels well I think it has been in about 5 different place Shed, patio, conservatory, living room and a bedroom(when waiting for bits to arrive from the supplier). It is now in a spare bedroom waiting for it to be collected and transported to it,s final home
