G'Day Rob,
We're just home from visiting my family in Brisbane.
Went to Maroochydore last Monday to visit old friends,
then tried to go to Bli Bli Castle with the grandchildren
but both the river road
and the road on the top side were both blocked with floods.
I hope your Clubhouse remained dry.
So many in Brisbane & across the state are flooded
and now Victoria.
Thank goodness my family are dry in Brisbane.
Keep up your great woodwork.
Cheers, Crowie

The Cooroora Woodworkers Club
It's still raining on and off up here in S.E. Qld.
We got 114 ml last night here in Cooroy.
After a flash flood there was water under the club house this time.
I thought you might like a walk around our club house and workshops.
This is where I make all my toys and put our Clubs Newsletter together.
As mentioned the old Kilns have been converted to workshops.

Hi. I'm a little ashamed to say that I joined this forum just to get in touch with you
My friend and I have started a local business in Nhulunbuy NT that features hand made and eco friendly items. We couldn't find an Australian supplier of our wooden toys, so we have been ordering from the U.S. But then I stumbled across you. Would you be interested in discussing supplying our venture? We are very small-a market stall and in home type of affair.
I love your stuff! In fact, I'd never realised how many clever people there are!

A Steiner Education inspired tree house
I got an order for a tree house from the Steiner education catalogue.
This is how mine turned out.
The treehouse from the catalogue is also included.
Hopefully there will be some happy little vegemites.

More Steiner Education inspired Treehouse furniture
Having sold a Treehouse last week, I got to work on another one and included more furniture in the Steiner style. I made the furniture from Camphor Laural branches.
It's selling well, with favourable comments from the customers.
When your on a good thing......

great stuff. I have started a tree house and will put up on the forum when I know I am less than 3 months from completing. I am actually planning on it living at my daghter's steiner pre-school where she teaches. From looking at your photos, I am pretty sure I am going to pinch some of your ideas!
cheers

Rob,
are the upper levels of the tree house just supported by the branches? Is anything screwed in or just wood glue? This is one of the issues I have in my just started one. I am planning to have a ladder screwed in on each side and maybe even a bracket under my large branch.
thanks

Hi Mick,
I drilled 6 mm holes into the ends of each branch/pole and into the floor and ceiling . I inserted a small piece of 6mm dowel into each end of the branch and covered it with glue then placed it into the holes on the floor and the ceiling. This effectively secured the posts.
I did not drill the holes right through the floor or ceiling as each pole was placed in different locations and did not, for the most part, line up with the one above it. Althought it would have been more secure if they had. I might try that with some poles in the next one I do.
The main branch had one screw securing it to the bottom floor from under the base. It was glued also. The swing and crane had dowel in the end of the stick/pole and inserted into the hole but was not glued to the floor. This allowed the crane to turn and both crane and swing to be removed for easy packing away.
The ladders and steps were secured with small peices of kebab stick and glued.
I also tried a different method by sanding away the ends of the poles/sticks until the end resembled a piece of dowel and inserting that into the hole in the floor or ceiling, but this was not as strong as a piece of dowel inserted into the core of the pole /branch
I hope this has been helpful.
regards

Rob,
very much appreciated. I think I will need to screw in the branches to the base (as a minimum) after I glue them. I like the idea of chop sticks for small dowels! I made a bunch from small branches for my ladders (see pictures) but I admit it was alot of mucking about and I would have got a better fit if they were all the same size. The 6mm dowels also seem a good idea for the bigger pieces. If mine ends up half as good as yours I will be more than happy l
thanks
Mick
