1930's Ford Roadster, Coupe and Sedan.
Hi fellow toy makers,
Here are a few new toy cars I made this last week.
20170729_101306.jpg20170729_101320.jpg20170729_101334.jpg I'll be making a few adjustments on the rear mudguard to bring it lower to the wheel next time.

20170729_101435.jpg20170729_101451.jpg20170729_101501.jpg
20170729_101211.jpg20170729_101241.jpg20170729_101229.jpg This one needs a little more work. Because the timber was only 40mm thick the back profile was too low. I'll use thicker stock next time. However it was very quick to make.
Until next time
bye for now

Another great collection CT. What do you use to cut out the windows?

Hi Dallas,
I use the scroll saw. Drill a hole and use a special blade like the one shown in the pic below.
Specifically the Crown Tooth blade as it cuts so smoothly you don't need to sand. It only takes a few minutes to cut out the window.

A Little bit of everything and a lot of somethings.
Hi Folks,
I'm back again with some pics of recent projects and orders from customers.
The Cooroy Camphor Laurel Woodworkers is powering on with great sales of our woodwork at the recent Farmers and Crafts market held in a vacant lot across from the workshops.
20170220_113327.jpg20170228_103330.jpg Orders for book ends are always popular
20170512_082330.jpg A little bit of decorative scroll work on a crate
20170614_132236.jpg More decorative work for attaching to other jobs

20170906_133039.jpg 100 Xmas tree decorations to start the season , no doubt there will be requests for more.
20170907_092606.jpg The request for spatulas is never ending
20170918_111623.jpgDSCF0161.JPGDSCF0164.JPG Two Orcas for my daughters office. I have a template ready for a nice shark I'll attempt when I get some time. Just have to find the right piece of wood.
DSCF0124.JPG A stack of big wooden books. One of our members is trying to replicate this.
DSCF0131.JPGDSCF0132.JPG When the thicknesser breaks how do you get on the courier. You build a big box. It took me an hour to quickly knock this up. It was bloody heavy.
20170825_120120.jpg20170825_120130.jpg I purchased 3 wheel cutters ( old style type ). I'm not very happy with them. They are much too bulky ( fat) for my style of toy. But you can make bigger cars with them.

20170803_071904.jpg Reindeer !!!! they sell like hotcakes. I'm constantly making them.
DSCF0178.JPGDSCF0193.JPGDSCF0194.JPGDSCF0196.JPG This week I branched out a little a tried making a few shawl pins from various timbers for a customer.
DSCF0199.JPGDSCF0200.JPG I then went on to make this NZ Mouri hair ornament and a few hair pins. For the clueless , these are for hair buns.
I love new challenges and this week has provided me with a few that have expanded my skill set. I'm looking forward to seeing what next week brings. An Emu egg display stand? Nar , did that last month.
How about a .....
We'll have to wait and see.
Until next time , remember, sawdust is man glitter.

Those wooden books look great! How are they made?

Hi Cava,
Here are some close ups of the work done so far.
the edges have been sanded on the end of a bench top sander to give a concave feature. Then the leaves of the book are formed by using a table saw set at various depths and widths. the book covers are made from ply or thin sheet of timber. It is hoped painting will cover a multitude of mistakes :/ I hope this helps.
