Default Daisy and a Watering Can

After what seems like a very long time I have been able to set up a temporary workshop and dip my toes again.

I picked up a couple of designs by Steve Good and went to work. I was so wrapped up in my work and playing around in the shop that the SWMBO gave me a what for on the second day. It was all good though, when I gifted her the finished product she gave me one of these

Project 1 is a daisy and project 2 is the light bulb display. Took me 3 bulbs to get it right.

It looks rough as I rushed it in the end and didn't apply finish to it but it was never my intention to have it perfect. It was all for the practice and it did teach me a few things about the scroll saw.

Last night I did away with scroll saw patterns and set out to create my own little project. I started with something simple, as you do, and despite the simplicity, or maybe because of it, I took great pleasure in putting this watering can together. I thought it might go well with the daisy.

There's something magic about creating something and holding it in your hand where moments before it was only in your head. I'm rather pleased with this simple but rewarding start.

Fantastic! They would look even more awesome with a finish on them!

These were your own ideas? If so job well done.

Thanks Brett. I'm not too fussed about the daisy as I know I will make another one soon so I'll leave this as is.

The daisy and light globe is designed by Steve Good. You can find his free scroll saw patterns here.

    Thanks all.

It got a touch hot in the shop today. I hope you're all staying cool and safe in this heatwave.

Finished a little bird today. Again, no finish applied. Mainly just for practise on the scroll saw. This is another Steve Good design.

Nice work there George and thanks for sharing with us. I think your work does deserve to be finished as it is good quality work and with a little bit of sanding here and there and a nice finish applied, your work would look excellent.. Keep up the good work.

Like the light bulb vase, as others have said it would look good having a finish on it
