Batmobile
Bought this Batmobile Car Off of Ebay, and am Building a Bigger One for a Nephew of mine, and i was wondering if anybody had seen this car before, or knew if it came from a book of someones? as it is, it's 71/4" long and 3" high on the Tail, and the back Half Circles are from a 3/8 Drill Bit

Haven't seen it before but looks good. Simple design, easy and quick to make and a toy the kids will love..
Reality is no background music.
Cheers John

G'Day & welcome to the forum Cal,
What a great looking toy,
some little bloke is going to be very happy with that one.
Looks similar to the ToyMakerPress plans.
I'll keep looking for you but I'm sure on of the blokes will have an idea;
there is so much knowledge & helpfulness in the forum.
Cheers, crowie

Got Really Great news the other day, after taking a little break from making a handfull of the batmobiles I'm back making them again, made the previous ones for a friends booth at a Craft Fair and they Sold out Fast. well last Week I was at a Display of all Six of the Different Batmobiles at Comic-Con in San Diego, and where while taking pictures of them I got to meet George Barris, The Builder of the Original 1966 Batmobile, I then showed him the picture of my Batmobile,as the original was in my shop and he liked it very Much, he then asked me if I was making them still, I said yes, and in the process of talking about them, I asked when I was done making the next batch, would he like me to send him one he said yes,so in the end, I'm going to be making a Batmobile for the guy that buildt the Original Batmobile., for the rest of the Day you thought I was walking about three feet off the ground, I was so Happy.

Wow Cal, You have surely done well for yourself.
Did you get a photo of yourself with George Barris; if so please post it.
When you send the model to George you could send a copy of the photo with a "signature request".
Looking forward to seeing more of your handiwork.
Cheers, crowie

Wow....I read that 3 or 4 times. "I got to meet George Barris" Paint me green with envy.
I figured he must be getting on a bit in age so I searched for him in Wikipedia. Born 1925 so yup, he's getting on alright.
Also learned a few bits of trivia I never knew. According to wiki he didn't design or build the Ala Kart, arguably his greatest creation. His brother did.
Also, he didn't build the original Batmobile. He designed it but turned construction over the Cushenberry. Another great from the same era.

All in all though, I envy you CAL78. Fancy actually meeting one of the all time greats of the early days of customising cars. And thank you for giving me the incentive to search out more info on him. It allowed me an hour or so of very pleasant memories.
And pleasant memories are cherished at the best of times.
ETA: If there is anyone else like me who associates George Barris with some wonderful times in your life, you may enjoy seeing his own site. He's still very active

Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections....
