Thread: Dolls house Brick effect.

In my recent visit to one of my cousins in the UK I was shown a toy dolls house that he had made. I was most impressed by the house because this guy does not have the equipment that most of us have and the house was made using very basic tools. The results looked fantastic and I post the picture here for you to see. The furniture was store bought.

The main reason for showing this dolls house is to display the brickwork which is very realistic in the picture and equally as realistic in the flesh. This effect was achieved by each small brick facade being cut out by hand. I asked Ken (the cousin who made the house) to explain his technique and I print below his answer.

Dolls House Bricks.
1 paint 3 or 4 sheets of sandpaper in assorted shades
2 when dry cut into strips then bricks whatever size you want them to be.
3 mix shades together and stick to a A4 card at random.
4 by putting them onto a card you will be able to see what your wall will look like, best of luck Ken.

so for any of you who may want to build something with a brick facade, this is a very simple idea but most effective.
