Default Dump Truck for the local “Boys & Girls Club” Easter Guessing Competition

Dump Truck for the local “Boys & Girls Club” Easter Guessing Competition [Fund Raiser].

Not the prettiest of trucks I’ve made.

It’s based on a truck from the book Weekend Woodwork Projects.

Thank you to Ken a LumberJock mate for helping me clarify some of the measurements.

I have made the tipper body larger than the original plans to allow for more Easter Eggs,
but then of course one has to then adjust all the other measurements plus add some personal touches, detailing.

And YES, I’ve made the tipper body as a tipper with a swinging gate which added more figuring out.

The tipper body is Pacific Maple dressed with American Walnut.
The cab a mixture of Pacific Maple, Radiata Pine and Red Gum.
    The radiator is Merbau.
The bumper bars are both Tassie Oak.
The front mudguards are Red Gum.
    The headlights are Tassie Oak.
The fuel tanks are Pacific Maple.
The air tanks & exhaust stacks are Tassie Oak.
The wheels are shop bought as are the furniture button used for lights.
The steering wheel is a timber button with Australian Red Cedar seats & Tassie Oak engine cover in the cab.

    The overall measurements are:
    Length – 13” [350mm]
    Width – 6.5” [165mm]
    Height – 10” [250mm]

About 15-20 hours of making it work.

Finish is 3 coats of home made Wipe On Poly
30% Tung Oil; 40% Satin Clear Polyurethane; 30% Mineral Turps.

The truck will be filled with Easter Eggs next week for display at the community club
and hopefully again raise some good funds towards equipment for the children.

Nice one Peter, I hope it raises plenty for the club. Certainly a mix of woods.

Default You might not think it’s “pretty”...

...but I reckon once it’s stuffed full of chocolate eggs the kids will all agree it’s the most beautiful thing they’ve ever seen!

Well done Peter, another super gift to a good cause; I can see it being wheeled out every year!

There is however, a grave omission.
A serious departure from the norm.
    An extremely conspicuous absence.....

    WHERE’S HANDY???
Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.
