    Default flying dragon plan

Gidday to all, wondering if anyone out there in wood land has a plan for one of those flying mobile thingies - pull the string and the wings flap up and down. Have been through my library and the general internet but no luck. I was chasing a flying dragon please. Many thanks. Merivale

Make your body and wings whatever shapes you like.
The issues are you need to have enough wing on the outside of the 2 pivits strings to cover the weight of the inside potion of wings and body.
When I made mine I put 2 dowels sticking out from the bench and put the animal on it on the wings.
Then move the dowels in or out until the wings are level and the body nicely in the middle. They are then the points where you need to drill for the pivot strings.
Do-not forget the pull string and knob. Do not put them on after finding pivots as it won't work if you change the weight distribution, They need to be on when you level it up.
The worst bit was mounting the wings onto the body Hinges, string loops, rubber bands.

Try "flapping bird mobiles", Google came up with 1/2 a million results, including Images and YouTube videos.

It's all about balance. Once the flying animal is assembled, the position of the strings suspending the wings needs to be where the animal is level or with the wings slightly downwards, that way, as you pull the body down, the wings go up, and when you let it go, it will oscillate up and down until it sits level again.

    Edit:
Found this site that sells plans for Australian Bird mobiles that flap...
