Default Ford Hot Rod T-Bucket challenge I gave myself in isolation/lockdown

Ford Hot Rod T-Bucket challenge I gave myself in isolation/lockdown

Well what does a toymaker do during these times except build a handmade wooden toy, a Ford of course.

First was a hardtop T-Bucket with a number of detail personalization.

Instrument panel, gear shifter, steering wheel, pedals, headlights, taillights, side steps, exhaust headers.

Thank you again Dutchy for the wooden buttons for the steering wheels.

And thank you again to Ducky for the Ford Logos.

I used the “C” Cab profile as a starting point then made up the rest as I went.

The youngest of the three brothers saw the finished hot rod and asked “pa can i have it, please”!

Well I couldn’t give one to the youngest and not the other older two, so the challenge continued.

The next two were open cab t-buckets but slightly different to each other.

So now all three of the boys will have a Ford Hot Rod T-Bucket built by a Peter.

This should help them as they too have to stay at home.

I’ve used a range of Aussie hardwoods plus others…..
Spotted Gum, Blackheart Sassafras, Silky Oak, Australian Red Cedar, Merbau, Tassie Oak, Oregon….

The wheels are forstner and holesaw made while the head lights & taillights are bought.

The finish in my home-made wipe-on-poly.
[30% Tung Oil, 40% Clear Satin Polyurethane, 30% Mineral Turps]

    Measures about 12-13” [310-330mm] long, 7” [180mm] wide and 5-7” [130-180mm] high.

Lots of fun for me and I’m sure to receive some big happy smiles from the boys.

Isn't life grand being able to spoil your grandchildren.. Cheers, Peter

And of course Handy had a heap of fun helping me...

What a nice trio of Peterbuilts!

Good to see you’re keeping yourself entertained during the lockdown!

Yes Glenn, the boys were quite thrilled.
The FORD Logos were done by a mate in country Victoria who is very clever with a Lazer Cutting machine; they are really great and just set off the whole HotRod Y Bucket theme.
    Cheers Peter

Nice work Peter ! Very few things compare to the joy of a grandson/daughter when invited to get amongst some handwork by grandpa.
    Cheers,
    Gus
