Default Ford Hot Rod C Cab Baker’s Delivery Van for the local Baker’s delight owner!

Ford Hot Rod C Cab Baker’s Delivery Van for the local Baker’s delight owner!

Over the past 18 months small business done it tough with all of the COVID restrictions and regulations for sure!

My local bread shop in town is a Baker’s Delight franchisee who also appreciates the Muscle Car era though we do differ on brand preference, he’s Mopar and of course you all know I’m FORD!

In his shop which is open 7 days a week, he employs 29 staff but I’ve seen him cleaning, servicing customers, baking along with his duties as the owner running the shop.

It came to me about 6 weeks ago, “I wonder if anyone have said and shown their THANKS for him and his shop”.

So my journey began to make a Baker’s Delight “Ford” Hot Rod C Cab Baker’s Delivery Van as a THANK YOU gift.

I put some extra time and effort into selecting the timber and detailing it as that’s my joy.

    The sides are Camphor Laurel.
    The roof is Jarrah.
    The chassis is Spotted Gum.
The engine and rear wheels are a Misc Eucalyptus.
The radiator and front wheels are Merbau.
The seats, console & dashboard are Blackheart Sassafras.
    The blower is zebra
The front and rear bumper bars are American Walnut.
The front headlights and homemade with smaller shop bought lights underneath.
The rear taillights are detailed Axle Pegs
The Baker’s Delight Decal/Sticker came from the shop staff [on the quiet].
The “Peterbilt”, “V8 Ford” and “Ford” badges are lapel pins.

It’s finished with 3 coats of my homemade Wipe-On-Poly.
    Measures 17” [430mm] long, 7.5” [180mm] wide and 6” [150mm] high.

To say he was blown away is the understatement of the decade, even a wet eye was seen as he said THANK YOU.

One of the staff videoed the handover for me and that’s amazing to watch.

He had the toy on the shop counter all afternoon telling all the customers about it, good stuff!

    Cheers crowie

    Way cool project Crowie.
I love the delivery trucks as you know and have build a couple and all ways in the back of my mind is one soaped up as you have done.
Brought a big smile to my face when I first laid eyes on it.

    G’day All,
Last week I bumped into a local woodworker who runs a very successful YouTube Woodworking Channel.
I showed him the video the staff member of Baker’s Delight sent me of the handover of the Ford HotRod; to my surprise he asked if I would send it to him to feature on his next woodworking demonstration YouTube video.
WOW, it was just a random act of kindness and now I get 2 minutes of fame.
Here’s the link, the segment with the video starts at about the 36th minute, enjoy the viewing and the reaction of Justin, Cheers

Thank you ladies and gents for you kind words....

Justin is still coming to terms with my thank you.

He's been loathed to display it on the counter with all the product for fear that it might get bumped onto the floor, understandable.

I'm hoping he is able to sort a shelf in the front of house to display it for all the staff and customers to see.

    Cheers Peter
