Looks really good. Did you use poly for your topcoat. If you did was it sprayed on or brushed?

Well spotted Bret.

The final coat was from a can, the acrylic paint was thinned down and brushed on. I used an Acrylic Clear gloss spray can. In fact it was the one our Prime Mover recommended to me.

I had experimented with other types some cheaper and some dearer, I think it will be my clear spray of choice from now on. After the devastating floods we had here this product was not available for a time and I went to a few other more expensive brands. the results were ordinary to say the least.

i think over there you will just have to experiment to see what suits you. However with the wheels what I like to do is to use quite a few coats of Minwax Wipe on Poly Gloss to give a more robust look to the tyre and wheel and then I might just give a light spray of the Acrylic Gloss if I want it a bit showy.

The one thing I like about Phil's ( Prime Mover's ) plans is they are methodically set out and a great introduction into toy making. Once you have mastered a few I feel it is not that big a step to move onto something more complex if you wanted to.

However for me, the more complex nearly takes you into the Scale Modeling area so you have to think if you would like a child to play with something like that. The Fire Engine that I put in our local Show is still a toy and it has served its purpose for me so now will go to be used as a nice gift for somebody.

I have the End Loader to finish and then I will attempt Prime's Kenworth Truck and Trailer which might be my show project for next year. This one will be a bit different to Phil's and I would like it to be a show piece so i have to find the right wood because i think it will be stained not painted.

On Phil's T Model Ford Fire Engine plans their are three other T Models included. A lot of parts are generic for all of them but then we have some differences like the pick up, tow truck and the Coupe. Great value and it really does help your woodworking ability.
