HotRod Ford 8×8 ATV
HotRod Ford 8×8 ATV
We as I said I’d do I’ve built a different vehicle for the local Boys & Girls Girl “Guessing Competition”.
This one is a lot smaller to fill with lollies/candy for the Guessing Competition.
It’s scratch built off of drawing I found on the computer at an ARGO.

I started with the chassis made from Tallow Wood adding two sets of articulated wheels.

The floor is Spotted Gum with a join down the centre.
The sides a just an offcut for the “no scrap timber” box but fitted to with the figure from front to rear both sides.
The engine is Red Gum.
The radiator is Blackheart Sassafras with an Australian Red cedar surround.
I added a Spotted Gum roll bar reinforced with a bamboo dowel plus additional spotlights.
The seat is Blackheart Sassafras and the windshield Zebra.
Overall it’s 14 1/2” or about 380mm
Width is 6 3/4” or about 175mm
Height is 5 1/2” or about 140mm plus the rollbar
My usual homemade finish, 3 coats of Wipe-On-Poly
My grandson gave it the once over with a BIG TICK except there was one question;
“pa, why are there only two pedals”
And I replied “Go and Stop”
A good fun project that’s very different for sure!
The community club has been running through the restriction with a whole heaps of extra work and protocols by the staff and volunteers.
I hope by making a few extra toys for a fourth term fund raiser it’ll help with some beaut Christmas presents for the families.

So this is the beauty you have been talking about.
Classy work Peter
The timber colours are fantastic and I love the Ford sign.
All the Best

Nice work and surely one fun project to build!!!
I went and looked at the 8x8 ATV web site and that's one cool looking tool,
would be a blast to hit the woods with if you can afford a $30,000 toy.An Index Of My Model making Blogs on Lumber Jocks.
