C P Huntington Locomotive
Steam locomotive number 1 , named after C P Huntington President of the Southern Pacific Railways of California, shipped from New Jersey in 1864 for
transporting materials and workers on railway construction.
All details were obtained from photos until AUSSIE came up with plans published in 1947 Popular Mechanics, but they were very basic with cardboard and wire being used.
Scale is about 14 to 1 , overall length 600mm, height 260 mm, drive wheels
105 mm.
Rather than being a static model I have fitted it with a 3 volt motor with a reduction gear box to give the drive wheels about 26 rpm. If everything works to plan I hope to fit it to a short section of track , driving it back and forward.
AUSSIE spent the afternoon taking photos for which I am very greatful.
Have been working on it for over a month, and still heaps to be done to finish it. until next episode cheers John.

You're kidding John,
What a magnificent example of woodwork model, it's no toy.
I am in awe of you and the other blokes who have shared the wooden models of real machinery, simply beautiful.
The detail and the patiences to make such a work of beauty.
WELL DONE, SIR!!
I have a lot to learn but I'm surely inspired.
Thank you for showing the details with the photos.
Cheers, Crowie

John your Loco is truly a magnificent model, something I could only dream about making one day
I have seen this Loco and am in awe of the workmanship. The mini joinery that John has performed, and cannot be seen in photos.
The one piece spoked wheels, window frames, bell and many many finely made parts.
Anyone would be hard pressed to find a fault with this model and-- it is not finished yet.
I cant wait to see the completed Loco.
One really top model that anybody would be proud to have made or owned
