KinderGym Props & Aids for the whole class
G'day All,
My darling wife coaches gymnastics at the local community club [senior head coach], and I get to help the club by helping my wife with aids & props over many years.
This project was for 20 "Frypans" & 3 "Flower Beds".
Over the past few days I have been making the "Frypans" & the "Flower Beds" for KinderGym.
The Frypans are a 125mm disc of 12mm pine with a recessed piece of parquetry as the handle.
[Lots of bandsaw, sanding disc, chisel & hand sanding before a coat of clear water based lacquer.]
The little gymnastics have to walk & balance items on the Frypans.
The Flower Bed is an 800mm length of 60mm x 12mm pine with a number of 18mm holes staggered along its length.
The Flower Bed is secured at the top of the climbing wall and the little gymnastics have to take their flower to the top & plant, through the hole. [The flowers are shaped yellow cardboard glued onto a paddle pop stick].
The whole process is desired to help with motor, balance & co-ordination skills;
PLUS my wife is helping me use up some of my toymaking timber stock-pile.....lol.
Cheers, crowie

Sounds like you are havin' fun
Crowie,- This is getting contagious I'm sure,- First it's me getting a junior primary school wanting large wooden blocks, then a local kindy asking me to make them Play House Furniture,- now it's you making stuff for the local juniors. Wonder who will be the next member to catch the disease ??
Today I designed, and made three large blocks,- one a half-moon shape; one large triangle, and one 300mm x 300mm sq. cube,- which believe it or not were NOT as easy as one would think, especially the half-moon shape,- very good exercise in bending thin 3mm ply over a pair curved timber sides, and getting it to stay there while being clamped,- and the school has requested two dozen of the critters !!!!
At least I have a very good sense of humour
'ave a good day everyone,
Roger

Looking good Crowie. That was a tedious job with lots of repetitive parts. Im sure the kids will love them. Tracey is lucky to have a handy mate like you.
