Default Lathe disc sander using micro adjustments

Hi All, This topic has probably been covered by many more qualified than I but I'm hoping I can add a new twist to it.

If you are happy free hand sanding then this is a waste for you, however, if you need that micro adjustment to that specific sanding jig you just built, this may be of some use. All you would need to do is mount your jig to this contraption (or similar).

If nothing more, some turners may be interested in finding out where you can get hold of one of those spindle taps to suit your lathe to make your own threaded faceplates, but you'll have to read the link below.

I was spurred on by my throw away comment near the end of this post.

The other day I trundled down to the workshop and come up with a design and rather than repeat it here, here is a link to the article I wrote for LumberJocks.

It is the concept that I am touting here (use of the "two way cross slide vice" with a lathe). With a bit of ingenuity, the vice mounted to the lathe bed could be combined in a miriad of diversified uses other than just micro adjustable sanding.

Great idea using the vice. I have just finished making something similar minus the vice.
