Default Ford C Cab Trucks for Christmas

*Ford C Cab Trucks for Christmas *

After the good response from the local shop owner I decided to just make a couple of wooden toy trucks for his shop as Christmas is just around the corner.

Well, to my great pleasure the trucks were received very thankfully, with the comment that he could have sold the first truck which he has on display a dozen times over.

The trucks are still a work in progress and thanks to the encouragement of Jan, aka Dutchy, I have actually written up a list of parts with measurements to make the process repeatable.

A proper plan is in the pipeline with so clever valuable assistance from Jan who has the "know-how" to do that.

I really appreciate the folk on Woodwork Forums and Lumberjocks as so many have unselfishly given of their time & expertise to encourage me, along with many others.

These two trucks are slightly different from each other in their width, but the wider one is the way to go.

    Overall they are approximately 18" [450mm] long; 6" [150mm] wide and 6" [150mm] high.

Most of the timber is reclaimed/recycled Aussie hardwoods machined to size with a mixture of complimentary colours for contrast.

The finish is three coats of my homemade Wipe-On-Poly of Tung oil, Clear Stain Polyurethane & Turps mixture.

Of course any toy truck build wouldn't be able to be processed through the shed without the able assistance of my good friend and helper "Handy"

I just hope the shop is able to self them and some lucky child has a beaut wooden toy truck to play with for many years to come.

Very nice couple of trucks Peter. Will you be making any more for the shop or just make them when you feel like it. I know that keep making the some thing can get a little boring, very much like the nutcracker solders that I have made I am now on number 8 and 9 which just seem to be taking forever as I have made so many of them.

Stay safe and enjoy the workshop

    Thank you “oneye” and Derek
I have another two trucks on the go with a slight plan variance.
So far I’m motivated and enjoying the challenge
plus the fact that my friend, Dutchy is doing real plans helps drive forward.
Hoping you are safe in the cold northern winter, cheers Peter
