    Hi All,

Well my Y Class diesel is now finished.

I made up the trackwork to sit the locomotive on. The sleepers are weathered using a wire brush on my 4" angle grinder . They are then painted in a wash of acrylic brown paint. The rail clamps were cut on my table saw. They are painted in domino and the a wash of red oxide to give them a rusty look. The same for the track. The wear on the top of the track is spray paint "Pewter".

I have named my locomotive "Les Rolls". He was a bowler at our club who passed away 3 months ago aged 99. He was the Maintenance Engineer and Maintenance Manager at Victorian Railways Yarraville Workshops in the 1960's to 1980's. His wife was thrilled when I asked if I could name this locomotive after him.

Thanks everyone for looking and giving positive comments about my locomotive build. Most appreciated. I reckon this has been my most enjoyable locomotive build.

    Thanks everyone

    Regards

    Keith

Incredible work you should be justifiably proud of how your Locomotive has turned out.

    G’day Keith,
First Class job sir, no way is it a brick on wheels!
Love the second photo looking straight at the front end of the loco.
    Cheers, Peter

Just bloody brilliant Keith, I've enjoyed the ride as usual. Such a fitting gesture to name your creation after your bowling friend, with his connected history.

    Thanks Derek.

I have promised my Grandson a racing car. I have purchased some plans from Toys and Joys. Building an "Indy Car".

Never used plans before on my builds. Should be enjoyable.

    Regards

    Keith

What a wonderful tribute to Les Rolls.

Another first class model from a master craftsman.
