just another little update
I haven't dropped into the mens shed for a while.
apparently the waiting list is now up to 3 months, (19 orders) no one intends to speed up production ( gets in the way of golf, fishing and bridge etc)
and those three non woodworking blokes now teach newcomers how to enjoy a little spare time woodwork
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

That is a fantastic result for everyone.
It just shows the value of input from a talented master with commercial experience.
Those guys must feel really inspired now.Scally

Well done Underfoot,
That's a top project to encourage and maybe stretch a few at the Mens Shed.
If they look half as god as the pictures here, they'll sell like "hot cakes" and show go for a good price too.
Looking forward to seeing the plans.
Cheers, Crowie

Well done Underfoot.
I am having a go at making something like your masterpiece. I have never done any shaping or carving before other than making a simple coathanger at school in about 1954.
Probably take a couple of weeks but when I finish it I will post a picture here. I have a grandson with a birthday in early December so will have it ready for then.
Thanks for such an inspiring project....

Hi Underfoot
...I have had a go at making one of these funcars from my youngest grandson who has his first birthday in early December. Your post showing your cars is an inspiration so I tried to tackle this project. I didnt have enough timber to make it from the one species so it is a mixture of some pieces I had lying around in the shed..
The body was from some mahogany , the mudguards are Huon, the wheels are paduk and the hub caps and the seat are from some jarrah burl. As far as carving goes, I am a butcher, maybe need to get a few more tools and some experience.
I will get some Aussie cedar and make MK2 someday. I learnt a few things doing this one.
Thanks for showing us how it should be done...

Well done Ruddy great job..
looks like you had the tools to do the job........and you've made one.......so now you're experienced
if I were to offer any advice, it would be the same as I tell the boys in the shed...
" think jellybean...round over everything...if it looks even a little bit square...make it round.....think jellybean"
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

I know its a fair time since you posted on this forum but I am a very slow reader! I have only recently come across your photo's of the car and am trying to reverse engineer the outline as best as I can. Not being endowed with your artistic ability I need profiles of the sections and a photo of the side-on view would help enormously. Like you I see a great little project for our Men's shed to get stuck into if can just get one finished as a sample.
Cheers Hammo
