Thanks Greg the wheels were made by holesaw & finished off in the lathe & drill press.

Why do modellers make the wheels with the holesaw first ?
Is there some reason for not turning them directly in the lathe ?

G'Day Peter,
You've progressed very well from pliers & screwdrivers to become a top toymakers, well done.
You've put together a good mix of timbers and the finish has come up well.
Looking forward to the next 3....
Cheers, crowie

G'day Greg,
Some of us don't have a lathe or the room to fit even a mini lathe; holesaws, forstner bits & profile cutters work well.
I already had a full set of holesaws from work days so I didn't have to buy them.
Peter's very lucky to have a lathe to detail the holesaw blanks, IMHO.
Cheers, crowie

No valid reason greg ,I just found it easier for me cutting them out of 19mm thick timber ,as I did not have a wood blank big enough ,so I mounted them on a mandrel mounted in a drill chuck in the head stock of my lathe, one day I will buy myself a good chucking system.

Looks great, Peter, I love it.
Nice timber choice, too.
What are those timbers? The dark stuff looks like Merbau, but very tight-grained if it is.... Steve

Right. Similar colour to Merbau, at least. Was going to suggest Red Cedar as well - glad I kept my mouth shut now. As you can see, I'm not much good at IDing timbers. I just chop the stuff up and use it to make things. I keep it well labelled so I don't screw up on names.
