Nick's Playhouse
My oldest son turns 5 on Aug 1st. He is always building make believe houses out of anything he can find. So his mom and I thought I could build him his own house for his birthday. It measures 4ft x 4ft and 5ft high at the peak. Its made of exterior plywood and pine for the windows and door. When the paint has dried this afternoon I will take a shot of it assembled.

Bret,
a great Playhouse! Looks like the type of thing I would be interested in building. Some questions on construction:
- were the windows spaces cut with a scrollsaw?
- Are the window frames just glued on
- it looks like ply - how did you do the joins (corners plus to roof, etc)
thanks
Mick

Hello Mick,
The windows and the door opening were cut with a jigsaw. and yes the window frames are just glued on and brad nailed. Regarding construction the 2 outside walls have two 3/4"x 1" x 48' strips at the ends spaced apart for the front and back wall to fit in.

The 2 outside walls also have the triangle part of the roof cut as a seperate piece that is 12" tall at the peak and 48" wide. I mounted these to the sides using pocket hole screws and glue.

The roof is just screwed onto the triangle sides and the two edges meeting in the middle were cut on the tablesaw at a 25* so they would fit together. The plywood part of the roof sits between the two outside walls and the two pieces on the sides fasten to the wall.

hope this helps.

Looks great Bret.
Did you manage to get Nick back inside once he saw it & started to play.
A project very well done with many happy hours for Nick ahead.
