Plans
OK for the last 3-4 months on and off I have been designing a rocking horse in the shape of a tractor. I would like your views on the design so far. The finished rocker will have all the edges rounded over and also on the exhaust that is sticking up some sort of rounded over cap. I still have to draw the rockers but this is going to be an easier job than the main unit. At the moment it is assembled using sketch up. I will be making plans of sorts once I am happy with all the design. And also making it

Don't take any notice of the colours as these also need to be finalised

That looks fantastic Derek. Very clever how you laminated the parts. That will make it much easier to build.

Looks good Derek.
One thing that intrigues me... is it going to rock like a rocking horse, and if so, won't it be quite high? Or will it be more like a rocking chair?Too many projects, so little time, even less money! Are you a registered member? Why not? click here to register. It's free and only takes 37 seconds! What a magic design - I can see the principle extended to all sorts of non-horse rockers. Will you provide some sort of dowelling peg as a foot rest?

Thank you all for the comments. One thing when doing this is the appreciation of all those that make the plans for woodworking.
That was my thought when designing this Bret
It is like the chair type as in my motorbike rocker. The rear wheel to give a sense of proportion is 11" diameter
I forgot to put the foot rest on but it is in the plans which I have attached. many of the parts on the plans will be erased to get rid of multiple parts leaving one of each with note to verify number and thickness required. The seat is near the back but the main body should help to balance this out so not sure whether to have the cut outs ( designed to reduce overall weight ) I may also change the front to allow for a grill of sorts to be added as a little detail

I will be making a PDF of the whole set of plans with measurements once everything is finalised and I start to build as I need to confirm all and alter as need be. The drawing so far is done to the correct measurements in sketch up I just need to add these and also name the parts as well as make a drawing of assembly sequence. Nearly forgot also draw the rocker assembly.
Should have this finished after Christmas as I have put every thing to one side as I am making Christmas presents at the moment like a clock for my mum, turned jewelry for my sisters, turned salt and pepper grinders, toy box, 4 money boxes with letters on the front, some candle sticks for another sister and finaly my mum wants a bowl or something similar to give to a friend for Christmas.
Then 5 other things that need making which includes the tractor so not a lot to do (These are not for Christmas)
Not bad for a hobby

Interesting thread Digger and I for one will be taking a lot of interest. I am doing a similar concept in my 1931 Cadillac Roadster build which also will be on Rockers.
I look forward to see how you build goes as mine is just bits of cardboard templates at the moment to ensure I get the proportions correct and in balance.
Thanks for sharing.

interesting
thats a great concept. I'll keep on eye on your build here.
I am imagining a Holden Monaro build with the same principle.____________________________
