P38 airplane prototype
Here is another one for your consideration. Please let me know what you think of this designwise. How does it look, is it strong enough to survive years of hard landings, etc.

Another ripper.
It looks very strong apart from the blades.
Kids being kids it will dropped, probably even thrown at times.
I remember as a child one of my toy planes had disks to simulate the spinning props instead of the actual blades.
They'd be a lot stronger.
It maybe worth a thought.
Great stuff mate.
Cheers
Trev.

That is awesome. Any chance of finding where you got the plans or was it scratch built?
Top job.

Bob.... Great plane...strong and simple....you've done the propellers out of ply so maybe just a little shorter would help with rough landing mishaps....otherwise another FIRST CLASS job, ready for hours of fun, play and flying all around the country... Cheers, crowie

Like it!!
My only concern is the propellers but I have yet to see a totally child proof toy!

Trev,
Thanks for your suggestion. I think it will harm the realism of the toy because the propellors look much better. I will see if I can make them a bit thicker for strength. If they come back broken, I will keep your suggestion in mind!
It was scratch built. However, they are pretty easy to make if you look for technical drawings of the plane. If you have the side and top views, scale them to the size you want and you can start making your own plans. Mine were made by tracing the plans onto a blanc piece of paper which was fixed to my computer screen showing the drawings.

The P38 looks great. If you use the discs as propellers - I would paint the 3 blades on each propeller. Either way - tremendous job.
I know with Josh (2 1/2) he drops and breaks things , but the fun is also repairing and then giving it back to him. He watches and helps ???? with the repairs.
