That looks very well made indeed, and quite large. Do you have an intended recipient in mind or is it just for you?

thanks
thanks all
it was an early attempt and is actually a bit rough, although i thought the wheels came up nicely
i did it for my eldest great-great nephew's 18th birthday in may 2015 .... he wants to be a farmer and i thought it might be the only way he could get a tractor (he is actually now an apprentice greenkeeper)

G'Day David,
What a top model/toy, while it maybe your first photo post you certainly have some top toymaking skills....
The detail, the wheels are superb sir.....love to see some more photos if you have them, please.
Well done, cheers, crowie

sorry about the delay in responding to this ...
i am not being falsely modest or unrealistically hard on myself when i describe this fellow as still a bit rough but there were some reasonable recoveries in amongst it as well ,,,
was happy with the wheels anyway but the mudguards wouldn't work out for me at first (kept snapping) ... i found the pine ones i made for a toy (made simultaneously with this) were good so i made another set and sheathed them with silky oak ... look ok although i am sure i could do better now
similarly the engine bay at the front where nothing seemed to fit together properly ... the gaps were able to be hidden by sheathing it all (although why i didn't either use a handscrew or a block to protect that veneer on the right that shows a clamp mark i don't know)
all in all i was pleased enough to give it to my great great nephew (for his 18th ) and he was delighted with it ... i figure that most people don't look for faults when they look at things like that
the toy one is even rougher but has reinforced bits in it and metal axles so it can be well and truly played with (it also served to try a few of the things out) .. it goes to another great great nephew but for his second birthday (in april this year) ..
regards david

G'Day David, YES YOU ARE BEING A LITTLE TOUCH UPON YOURSELF...
You have done a top job upon a difficult toy to make, the articulation and the wheels.....it's taken my 6-7yrs before I attempted such specialties after retaking up toy making.
The toy one as you mentioned is reinforced as it must be to withstand the rough & tumble of play...WELL DONE SIR UPON A COUPLE OF TOP HAND MADE WOODEN TOYS....
Keep up the good work, Cheers, crowie

It looks good from here and yes I have just got new glasses. I think that we are always our own worst critic and can see faults in our own work. It is the fun of making things like this that make us want to keep going and make a better one next time. So enjoy the builds and learn from any mistakes if any.
