Stuck on the outer rings of the other two wheels but before I did that I rounded one of the inside edges.

Once they where dry I put two at a time onto my larger of the two lathes and cleaned up the outside, I did them in pairs so that if there was any differences between the two it would not show each pair being on the same axle.

Once that was done it was time to round over both edges, you will notice that I sank the bit down a bit to leave a ridge which will represent the rim.

Back onto the lathe to do the sanding I found it easier this way and it was done in no time (you can just see the tail stock of my small lathe in the last picture)

Also managed to get the second coat of paint on the underside of the main body and also a second coat on the indicators. It is a good job I have two areas to be able to do the painting and woodwork so no cross contamination.

Looks awesome as usual Derek! Must be nice to have two lathes! Just Kidding. I have never have seen a two pole lathe. I bet it works better than a single pole as far as alignment goes. And I bet it is easy to make your own jigs to fit. What exactly are you using to attach the wheels to the lathe?

Thanks guys only painting on the car left now, and only the rockers themselves to make.

I held the wheel on the lathe with a pen mandrel kit HERE

Anyway back to the build and I am afraid that there is not a lot to report as I seem to be painting quite a lot lately so you will only see construction photo's as and when I do some.

Made the spacer and the cap for all the wheels. Also today I glued them in place.

Another little job was to make up some stands for the wheels and steering wheel so that I could paint them, luckily I will be keeping them as I will need them for some other wheels for another rocker I will be making after Christmas. No chance to start that one before as I have too much to make for presents before then.

Excellent. Thanks for that Derek. I had found the adjustable one at Pop's Shed, where I bought the lathe, but it was $4 dearer than at Timberbits. I've added them to my list of suppliers.

    Your welcome Steve.

A small amount done today in respect of making parts decided to turn the head lights and while I was at it make a mouse for my Great Granddaughter as she had asked me for one and I promised I would do it when I had the lathe running next.

    First picture is for Steve(Hermit)

    DSCF2357.jpg

I used a hole saw without the centre drill to give me a round blank just a fraction bigger than the headlights, this was mounted in a jam chuck fitted to a small backplate and turned to shape. The dome of the glass portion of the light was exaggerated a bit so as to make it stand out as the light is quite small.

    And the mouse I made

Yep, your lathe is identical to mine, down to the last detail.

I like the jam chuck - I was thinking of making a male version for my tyres, to finish the outside surface, but decided to do it with the Dremel and a jig. I'll leave the lathe alone for now, until I'm better set up.

That little mouse looks great. Very cute. Your great granddaughter will love it.

    Thank you Steve.

Anyway just an update along with some teaser photo's as I will be starting on the rocker assembly soon as I want to get the car finished with the wheels on so as to align them with the rocker section.

The bumpers still need to be fitted the tape is still attached in the middle photo this when pulled off will leave bear wood to attach them.

    Wow. It's looking great Derek.
'Teaser' is right. After seeing those pics, I can't wait to see the whole thing, when it's done. A certain little girl is going to be very happy.

Did you do anything special to make the paint that shiny?

Straight from the tin just care when applying. I used normal house hold gloss. If it had been a smaller car that can be picked up then I would use something different.
