Doll's cot and quilt
First real project, a doll's cot in jarrah, finished with hard shellac, for my niece's birthday. The quilt was made by my lady friend. Plenty of stuff-ups, and a few more gaps than I'd like, but a happy customer in the end.

If that's your first project, where have I gone wrong? It looks first class.
What sort of joints have you used on all the rails?Dallas

Looks very tidy and you have a Triton Vise inside the house so you must have a nice lady friend too

Dominos - I'll happily admit to being an all the gear and some idea woodworker. I started out using only hand tools, and wasn't getting far. The Domino is magic for just getting stuff done. The legs are from a half-finished kitchen table that I've had sitting around for ages, which is why they are tapered - I took the bottom half for the cot, top half for a coffee table I'm starting on.
The only real issue with the finished product is gaps between the headboards and the legs. If I was going to do it again I'd probably rout a groove in the legs for the headboards to sit in. And the curly grain in the raised panels is oriented in opposite directions in the head and foot.

Nicely done......Love it
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.
