Hi All this Wednesday I have some big brass coming up from Sydney so I have tidied up the shed temporally stuck the grader together and hope he does not notice.

Thanks for the comments Steve my progress is very slow.... that smaller grader in the picture is for my youngest grandson who just could not wait for the larger grader to be completed.
Crowie can up for a visit yesterday he did take some more pictures of the grader but I am not sure if I had done any more to it since the pictures I took the day before.
Pete took a pictures from a lot more angles than I did he reminded me of one of forensic chaps you see at a crime scene..... Any way it’s all good stuff and we did have a bit of a laugh and I enjoyed the day

You're doing a great job, Col. I'm looking forward to more pics. (Thanks Pete.)
I've got the Gatto grader plans and will be making one in the future, when I've had enough practice making smaller stuff.

Thanks Pete I really enjoyed the day it’s nice to meet people from the forum it puts a bit more realism into talking to everyone…. as we have already spoke of at the www show last month.
The crime scene shots you took I have put into my Album if anyone wanted to have look. https://www.woodworkforums.com/member...rader-project/
But maybe there is only so many pictures you can take of a road grader getting built over a long period of time I’m sure at the end of the project if I was to put all the pictures into a slide show it would run longer than that movie. The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Any way here is the most important shot of the day

Featuring the crime scene investigator and the chief suspect.

Thanks Steve I have seen that Gatto grader completed it would be a great project to do it's a lot more detailed than the Toys & Joys one that I am doing.
I do have a to-do bucket if I can call it that.
The next project is to have ago at building some of those working wooden padlocks.

But the thing that is taking priority now is the wooden toys for Christmas that I make every year through the Men’s Shed.
I will be away for two weeks in October so that puts Christmas even closer work time wise.

I'll wait a while before attempting the Gatto grader, when I think I have learned enough and have better gear.

Those wooden padlocks are interesting. I'll probably have a go at them too, sooner or later. They'd complement wooden hinges well.
Are you working from the 'Making Working Wooden Locks' book, by Tim Detweiler?

No mate. Not yet, anyway. I have to admit ignorance. I'd never heard of working wooden padlocks until I read your post. I did some quick (Google) research and came across references to that book, along with links to some YouTube videos.

HI All I had mentioned a bit earlier that I told my youngest Grandson about the road grader this proved to be a big mistake because from that point he would not let me forget it!.... So as I mentioned in an earlier post I made him one just to get him of my case for a while so I could get on with the project of the original grader which is still moving very slowly ahead ...... very.. very slowly but in the fullest of time it will be completed.
I have just put some pictures up of the little bloke with the grader pictures taken by his MUM my Daughter
The other projects that have come up are nesting boxes to put up in the trees at the eldest fellers school and toys for the Christmas appeal at the Men's Shed if you have looked at my Album you can see them from past years.
There is not lot attention in the finishing of the grader but that's not a worry for the little bloke he has his grader and that all that matters.

    Grader 2.jpgGrader 4.jpgGrader 3.jpg

I have made the grader so all its parts are held in place with dowels the crucial parts can be pulled apart as he breaks them I have learn't this from dealing with him in the past… and on that score he is available for testing purposes of other toys which you may like to have tested before giving them to any child just send the money to Pop

PS I have fitted spring loaded sleeve to the grader blade so it has to be pushed down to scrap the sand just to make last a bit longer.
