    Default Rocketship Mark I

    Hello,

I got a wild hair to make a rocketship. Here is the first one. I have already started Mark II

Its made of pine is about 9" tall and 2 3/8" in its widest area. Finished with shellac.

    Thanks for looking,

Looks great Bret, ready for blast off to the moon and beyond.
You seem to have surely mastered that old lathe with a very good shaping of the rocket & the engine end, well done.
    Cheers, crowie

PS - were is your helper????

QUESTION: Have you bought a new lathe as that doesn't look like the old metalwork one???

    Thanks Guys.

Crowie it is the same lathe. I would like to get a new one as mine has to be oiled everytime I use it and doesn't have any of the quick release handles for the tool holder or tailstock. But it belonged to my grandpa so I can't get rid of it. I plan on replacing all the bearings which are oilite to a sealed type. Just don't want the down time with no lathe. Although while turning the 2 rockets the headstock got rather hot. Maybe sooner than later.
