    Default rocking horse eyes

I found a very large teddy bear with gorgeous large brown eyes and took the eyes to attach to the rocking horse head. Looks great.

I have no carving experience, but it sounds difficult..... the easy way out I'd think would be to cut a big wooden bead or ball in half and paint it with high gloss to make it life like? Add a few eyelashes from blackened broom bristles?
    Just some thoughts......

Carving eyes is a lot harder then using glass eyes. It isn't going to make it quicker when you don't have time.

Try the rocking horse shop. You will get them in a couple of days.
