Well it's finally finished after some slow going with the paint in this cold whether. Sorry Crowie but it was all assembled before I read your post. Hopefully the paint will stand up to the wear & tear as I used enamel which is usually pretty durable.
So here it is completed. Now I can move on to one of Crowie's creations he has kindly sent me plans of.
I understand what jhovel is saying about the pivot point. My only concern would be the load that would be applied to the dowel pivot by having the weight of the person away from the pivot. When I do another one I will try moving the hole further forward and see how it goes.
