This afternoon i drilled out the left hand side of block to take exhaust pipe, then proceded to cut and solder brass tube finishing off the left side. Next on the list will be the mounting of the headlights.

No Mate
It's a sub-forum of WOODWORK FORUMS. Metal fabrication is metal fabrication. If I were to make knitted rag dolls, they would still be toys but not suitable for posting on a woodwork forum. I'd be looking around for a crafts forum to post on.
People make simple, childrens wooden toys, as well as more complex wooden models, but the essential element that ties it all together, is that the material used is predominantly WOOD.
Cheers

Is there a need to be so pedantic? I for one, and several others, have enjoyed watching this project progress.
I don't subscribe to dozens of forums and wood (wood link) have missed out on this had it been on another forum.
Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

Far from being pedantic, I am just being a realist. After all, where do we draw the line?
There is a section for metal work in this forum. If you are exclusively working with metal, then that's the correct place for this kind of project.
What is the relevance of metal craft to the many people who produce the simple pull-along toy, or the handmade wooden model?
I'd like to see the reaction of David posted a metal installation in the woodcarving section. He's pretty handy with a welder!!!
I rest my case. Perhaps we'll have to agree to disagree.
I'm surprised the moderators haven't moved these projects. I think they've slipped through, that's all. I have no argument with the skill of the projects, or with the people who like to look at these things, however, perhaps You Tube is a more appropriate venue.
Cheers

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!!!
This is a toy section ,toys are made of many different products not only wood, and to answer you question yes the heads on the hot rod are made from wood if you look at the pics.I make toys and thats what i enjoy doing like many other people out there, i came on this forum to show off my toys and pass on ideas to other people as well as get different ideas from other people not to have this sort of crap going on. If it didnt suit this section im shore the moderators would have said something by now after making two choppers also out of metal which ran for months and months and this one running for 7 weeks now. If you want to put rag dolls here do so theres been all sorts of things posted here,Aussies post the other day is about miniature toys which are made out of metal and brass whats that doing on here then.
!!!!!!!!!CAN WE CUT THE CRAP AND GET ON WITH BUILDING TOYS!!!!!!!!!!!

Not again!.
We have been through all this before.A part of the toy section is scale modeling and it actually says the following.
Sorry lilli
SCALE MODELLING
Wooden, metal, plastic or other medium scale Model Forum. Trains, boats, planes or anything else that is a model. One criteria: it must be a scale model. Please state scale in start post.Back To Car Building & All The Sawdust.

Well said Scotty and good on you for saying it.
And as Aussie had posted
"Not again!. We have been through all this before."
That was what I thought when I came back to check on Scottys progress, I'm not going to add to this as Scotty sums it up perfectly
Great Job so far it's looking awesome ,
I have really enjoyed watching this build as with every other project he has done

Hi everybody
I'm going to have my last comment on this subject.
I think the toymakers forum has been hijacked by a few people for their own purposes. The woodwork forum is to engender love of all things timber, and to share ideas and techniques, as well as to encourage each other with positive comments and constructive criticism.
When I first saw the Toy Forum, it was full of charming and varied toys for children. I think it t has scared away or discouraged a lot of the newcomers who used to post their pull along toys, their planes for teddy bears and other things that are essentially for children.
I have been guilty too, of using the forum for models, rather than for toys. I intend to put my money where my mouth is in future and post on the scrollsaw section, because David's models are essentially scrollsaw work. Or, if the moderators do not agree, then I will no doubt be moved to the scale modelling or toy section.
I think some people should honestly examine their own motives for what they post. Is it really to help to disseminate woodworking skills and ideas, or is it something different?
I believe what I have been saying here is neither pedantic nor unreasonable. It is self evident to anyone who gives it some time to think unemotionally about it. If it's been discussed before, then maybe it wasn't really discussed honestly enough.

I see the Woodwork forums as a place people of all walks can go and have a look what other people are up to in their sheds etc. It is not the place to raise conspiracy theories because someones scale model dosen't have any wood in it. What exactly are these öther purposes". Do you think these metal builders are planning a coup of the wood work forums....
If you don't like a thread, don't open itTry to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

Lilli.
I am really surprised at your outburst, really. Can't even imagine what got up your nose.
as far as we know you dont make the models anyway You tell us it is David,so why all the fuss.Shorly there is another site you could go to.
This extract from a rant --in red--- you could have posted Davids Models there in the first place, and not wasted our time here.I am very happy here and thought you and David were as well

PS The only time I use my scroll saw it to cut internal openings such as windows or grill openings.Much easier to use other saws for meBack To Car Building & All The Sawdust.
