A simple little truck or Ute as we’d say Downunder
I wanted to make a simple little truck or Ute as we’d say Downunder that’d be strong and fun to play with.
The Norm Marshall “Model T Ford” which I made a good few years ago was my inspiration.
The first attempt was okay but didn’t quite look right so back to the drawing board.
The second two looked heaps better so I’ve made a of templates and notes to be able to reproduce them.
The cab is made from an offcut of a large Laminated Pine post my builder friend gave me.
The engine and radiator are Merbau.
The sides and the back are Radiata Pine
The wheels are shop bought as I wasn’t happy with the look of the profiled wheels I cut.
The headlights are homemade from dowel, a forstner bit and 1/4” bamboo skewer.
I stained one with mahogany and the other with a mixture of mahogany and jarrah mixed together with my home-made wipe-on-poly finish.
The second two will go to the shop if the owner wants them while the first will be given away as a fun toy.
I can give anyone who wants the pattern of the template and dimensions if you’d like them.
Fun scratch build but my joy really comes when a child has a beaut little hand made wooden toy truck to play with!
Cheers crowie
