Default Spring coming - the Alien series

As winter slowly goes into spring, I've been busy in my shop. The heating brings temperature up to a comfortable 17°C. With too much time on my hands during the past months, I designed a series of "different" toys. The first one, based on a mobile crane, has just been finished. Because of it's looks, the series is called "Alien"... As you can see on the picture.

That is certainly something different, but very appealing. Lots of nice detail.
Just a question about the grill section at the back. Did you use a jig to drill all the holes for the little dowels, or measure and mark them all?

Wow you sure have been busy, but in a cold 17deg'c' workshop; they make them tough in the north....lol.
The crane design looks awesome Leo and a huge credit to your skills as a craftsmen.
Love to see some more photos of the cranes details, please.
Also please, what size is the crane?
    Very impressive.

Leo WOW, the time spent designing has really paid off!
The finished job is appealing and shouts "I gotta have one!!!" I"m sure you will have no trouble selling any you make.
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Default Plans for the Alien 2

Didn't have enough time yesterday, but here are the plans for the" Alien 2 Mobile Crane". The wheels are 35 mm thick and 100 mm in diameter, and total wide is 148mm. If you would try to make it, here's a warning: I draw the plans, take them to my shop and start. Along the way I change some details or ad something, like the exhaust pipes. Also, the engine ventilation slots are not on the drawings: I was not sure they could be made as I wanted... Next on the table is a truck, also with some extra's. Anyone care to reveal how you draw and work thing out?

They are all marked and spaced apart with small left-overs. Took some time, but it's the result that counts.

Wow Leo thanks for the additional photos and detailed plans. Great photography. Your photos really add warmth to the wood. I make plans for all my scratch built but nothing fancy like yours just to scale on graph paper. As you said alot of trial and error when making parts. Can't wait to see the new truck.

I've been looking at some road graders, the real stuff, and some toys on the internet. I'm trying to design a simple way to make the shovel work... In my head it looks like it COULD work, but I'll have to make a lot of drawings and a test model before starting on that one. Thanks for the encouragement!
