Summertime with my grandson
My grandson of 5 and a half is staying with us for a few weeks, awaiting the birth of our second grandson. While he's playing, I try to work a bit in my shop. He's got a healthy curiosity: on and off he comes and looks what I'm doing, and start asking questions about the tools he sees and what they're for. He just don't like the noise of some machines! The in another thread mentioned Alien 6 is his now, as soon as it's finished... A few pics of him in the shop...Never too young to learn!!

G'Day Leo,
Yes, very special times as the grandsons start to take an interest in what granddad does in the shed.
My grandsons don't like the machinery noise either.
Keep showing them, answering all the question and soon you'll be supplying timber, hammer and nails.
Cheers, crowie

Our grandkids compete to sweep up the shavings and then suck them all up with Poppys BIG vacum cleaner,as the years go they liked to have a hammer each to nail (I started the nails)
Great to have them in the shed.

A big present for all his great work...
As my grandson has been "helping" me in my workshop, he just couldn't keep his eyes from this "train".So, on this last day of his two-weeks stay with us ( his baby-brother has just been born) I asked him if he wanted that. His eyes glittered and he nodded furiously, without saying a word. I took this picture with him on the table. The "train" is the Alien 6 Caterpillar Traveller, from another thread where you can see more pics.

Hi Leo,
Your grandson looks like a woodworker. Very nice on your alien train.
I can see why he is sitting there with the train. He is thinking to himself I going to
build this one day just like my granddad. I think you will be building he's own
work bench. But watch out when you want to go to the hardware shop your car wont
start without your battery. Your will always have a shadow with you if he smells too much saw dust. But it great when the hobby is handed down to the young ones to keep it around for years to come. I just came a grandfather back in February but I don't meet him until October. I am looking forward to see your grandson first project
thar he makes.
Cheers Graham.

Grandsons
Hello Graham,
Last wednesday my second grandson was born. I know I'll never have the same bond as with the first one, who lived with us till he was 2 years old. I only hope he'll come over just as happily as number one. As it goes now, they will come over at least once a month if possible. I'm sorry for you, to have to wait so long to see yours. But in the end it's the bond you'll have with the grandchildren that matters, not the distance in time or miles. Thanks for the compliments!

Great pics! I got my daughter (3) in the workshop the other day and she looked great in her dust mask and safety glasses. lol
She was fine with the scroll saw and drill, but really didn't like the sander or dust extractor...still, she's wonderful at blowing the dust away from where the scroll saw cuts the work so I can see...saves me doing it
