Default Surface Rust on the machinery in the shed

I do my toymaking in a work area under the house.
I had to cut 600mm plus into the sandstone rock to get head height under the floor.
    Seepage is always an issue.
With all the rain over the end of last year & the beginning of this "Surface Rust" on the machinery became an issue.
I've put this thread up in the "general machinery" section on how I cleaned it.

I hope it's helpful to others as the Trend "Tool & Bit Cleaner" does seem to work.
    Cheers, crowie

Liquid Lanolin is good as anti rust protection. You don't need much, the stuff actually seeps into metal. If you apply and the surface feels tacky .... you've put too much on!

Hi Peter sorry to hear of your rust problems All I do to keep the rust at bay is i wipe all exposed metal with a rag that has a bit of kero and oil not to wet of course and when you want to do wood work Just wipe over with a dry bit of rag the surfaces in touch with the wood it is barely a smear but I dont have any rust, havent tried any of the sugested methods but they no doubt work ,One problem I had a long time ago was I left the top loose on a bottle of soldering acid flux and every think near was rusted up So take care,

    Eddie
