    Post Some toy attempts

This is my first post and I want to share some toys made of pine that was a test of my abilities.

I started browsing the internet for ideas on wooden toys and include some of the results that was tried and tested by some 'juniors' and are still 'in order' after 2 years.

I am very pleased that I found this forum and picked up a couple of new ideas and hints already.

G'Day, Welcome to "The Great Soutland" and top forum, "Piet Geld".
Anyways, You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
There are a top mob on the toymaking section of the forum.
Make sure you keep showing off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork & toymaking.
Cheers from "On Top DownUnder" crowie

PS - Recycled old timbers make great toys - seasoned, straight, good colour & grain......I have no idea what timbers you have in South Africa.

Its in South Africa and means coming together or meeting place and got it's name from a significant meeting in Bore history.
The pronunciation attempts can be quite hilarious to those who can pronounce Afrikaans.

By the way welcome to the forum Piet.

It is very similar to Dutch. Some words are funny for us because they are different than ours, but are recognisable nonetheless.

Piet, can you show us some pictures of your toys?

    Hi Pogo,
It was the same language in 1652 but then they developed separately, I worked with a bloke about fifteen years ago from the Netherlands who had settled here in Aus. in the "50s, he used to refer to Afrikaans as Double Dutch.

Welcome aboard Piet I am shore that you will enjoy the ride with us on the forum.... we would love to see the toys you have made.
You said the toys are made from pine do you have other more exotic timbers around in your area pine is what we would use here a lot to make the toys out of, its very cheap and most of the time we get it for nothing as the smaller pieces are discarded for scrap but are fine for small toys. I do not know much about timber and where different species come from but I believe there are some beautiful timber is South Africa. looking forward to hearing from you again soon

    Hi Piet

    Welcome
I would love to see some of the toys you've made. I'm thinking of starting to make toys, I made a go-kart for my daughter the other day but it's already needing some repairs.
