D B Gatto plan for 1930 Antique Roadster
Hi everyone,
I'm making a Dan Gatto (plan) 1930's Roadster.
The details in Dan's plans are amazing and very accurate. Some of the American terminology took a little to get my head around but that is the challenge and fun of it.
But now I have hit a major hurdle or roadblock, no not the virus, this one may well prove to be my mistake. Time will tell won't it.
I'll add some photos but here is the nub of the issue.
The steering column does not reach the steering rod located on the front end. I have checked every measurement and none are incorrect which is my issue?
The photos show my progress and the last three show how the steering column is short (but not going by the plans) and does not get anywhere near the steering rod on the front end.
I know I can remake the steering wheel with a longer column but given it is made to the plan specs and does not fit surprises me. Where have I screwed up?? Very frustrating.
Dan Gatto is not available on line for FAQ but only snail mail which will take till 2022 to get there let alone an answer......
Anyone out there familiar with this plan and can offer some help PLEASE let me know.

WOW, This is more of a model than a toy!
I'm not familiar with the plans but I hope someone else will be able to assist.
Cheers, crowie

That is an option but everything on his plan is spot on so I'm keen to know why this is not right.

Seems there is a small discrepancy with the plan. The firewall shows the steering column running through the firewall at an angle of 30 degrees and on the base the hole for the column is at at 45 degrees. I've learned how critical all the measurements and fitting needs to be for the front end and entire chassis. But also the size of the steering wheel and column.
Otherwise things just don't line up or fit properly.
I need to be 100 percent accurate and slow down a little more. It is called patients I do believe.
As you can see from the latest pics
