I think I will have to start the head from scratch as I clamped it poorly and there is a gap between timbers, it will be good to practice carving on though.
All that is left to do is tidy around the wheels up to make it straight, make and attach the head to the arm that will connect to the front wheels, oh then load of French polish or Varnish........not sure which yet.

Forgot it was my nephew's birthday this weekend so I thought I'd better build something quickly, started an old style tractor yesterday.
Nothing fancy, no bucket just a ringfeeder for a trailer which will get made at a later date.

Weeeelllllllll, it didn't go to plan at all, first I decided to use up some old Brinlay marine something something so he had three toys with three finishes but it refused to cure so that was stripped and Watty Estapol was applied.
Then, I had the front wheel spinning in the drill to remove some excess paint and I didn't realise the sanding block caught a bit of paint, melted it then pulled all the paint out of the wheel and it made a great mess!
So, this is as far as it got, needs a rub and a few more coats but for a cheap product I think it works well-NewImage_1052_592_100(3).jpg

Thanks guys, I am house painting at the moment so progress isn't really happening.
Tomorrow I have to strip the wheel centres and go again, I'm going to load some epoxy with a red pearl and just fill them up, sick of paint.

The ring feeder intentionally has some up/down/;eft/right movement so it isn't sitting level in the pic.
Next item will be a trailer with a Lego base bonded to the top so my nephew can load it up with all his Lego characters, that's also the reason the seat is so close to the steering wheel.

So Mk2 wheels will look a bit nicer, I thought the red in clear resin would be too much so I changed plans again.
I wanted an old looking wheel, so I gave it some texture.
I just have to rub the wayward bits off then the centres will get painted black when fit to the tractor.

Have been a bit busy to play tractors but I started on the trailer today.
The wheels are the last of the Oregon used in the bobcat and it seems to shimmer so much more than the next bits I got. As always the wheels were made with holesaws and a battery drill, drilled the timber diagonally to get nicer patterning on the front of the wheel. Still not sure if the trailer will get some sort of working leaf spring or not.....

As stated, the trailer is very simple and the Lego plate will be glued to the top when it arrives, I'm going to French Polish the trailer just to change the look up a bit, no farm has matching equipment.

Cheers Crowie, most of this one is from the scrap bin at my local timber yard, the only purchased section is the Oregon for the main body.
Here's a slightly out of focus pic of how the wheels turned out, ended up really happy with.........three of them. I wish I'd aligned the grain in the dowel though.

All done(bar a couple of quick coats of FP) I could have done the trailer a lot better but I really don't care, I'm considering it as a bonus present-

Thanks gents, I'm getting pretty sick of doing wheels with holesaws and chisels so I may invest in a Carb-i-tool wheel cutter.
We were throwing some water damaged cedar blinds out here but I have decided it would make some nice plane wings or a nice racing stripe or two on a car.
I've glued up a stack of about 10 slats and I'll sand it up just to see how the grain looks.
