Scott,
Well done mate
What I like about it is it is detailed AND kid safe... Quite an achievement.
I really like the detailed ones too...good for big kids like me, but if you are making stuff for little kids then yours is the way to go. Depending on the age of the kids, you could possibly even make it with removable parts (eg the engine) great way to add value to the project and help little one develop their dexterity.
Cheers,
Chipman

Thanks guys, I haven't got any photos of WIP of the hobby horses, but it's all very simple:
*cut head template
* cut wheels-make axel holes at least .5mm larger than axels
*cut beam to length
*cut axel to size so they don't protrude to do damage
*make some sort of axel cap.
*cut dowel 'handles'
*shape head
*position and attach handles
*sand well for little hands -no sharpe edges/splinters etc
* finish all components with non-toxic dye/oil etc
* 'tack up' head
*attach wheels to beam
* attach head to beam aligning square to wheels
Pretty quick, pretty fun!!! Good luck.

Wow Clare, those horses are amazing.
That's the best hobby horse I've seen, almost too nice to actually use. Can't imagine a kid riding it and throwing it on the ground after playing with it.... would be very hard to watch! lol
